What I have set out to do is not to re-invent the wheel which was invented several
hundred years ago but to improve what was already available by having a good hard look
at all components that makes up a wheel. Most important if involved in
an accident this wheel is totally repairable at a low cost. |
The most important part of the wheel.I have stayed with a steel hub because if
it gets kicked by a horse it will not shatter like some of the imported alloy hubs
that have been coming in over the years. I have had it machined to very fine tolerances
for bearing clearances and also had it hollowed out in the centre to reduce weight where
strength is not important.This weight reduction has made each wheel only 3.75kgs. |

I have chosen to use an alloy rim of double bridge for extra strength yet still very lightweight and no rust problems. |
Are a 13 gauge Zinc coated straight head spokes which means no downward pressure is on the head of the spoke. |
Made from lightweight polycarbonate and only 1.5mm thick vacuum formed to the shape of the wheel.
They have been moulded to cover the entire wheel on both sides to the outer edge of the rim for better
aerodynamics. Also this will greatly reduce horses hoof kicking tyres. The imitation wide spokes are
purely cosmetic & can be colour coordinated to clients chosen race colours. |
